The Upside Down Apple
Ever wonder why Apple’s logo used to be upside down? Former Apple employee Joe Moreno explains.

Many years ago it would have been normal for a passer by to have seen Apple’s logo upside down on the lid of my open Apple Macintosh PowerBook G3 laptop.

I’m proud to say that I liked seeing the apple logo right away up as I fondled my pride and joy whilst working up to flicking open the lid. I didn’t frankly think about that the logo would now appear upside down to anyone looking over in my general vicinity.

When you spend that/this sort of money, I would rather have it look right for me, not the nosey/admiring onlooker. Goes without saying it’s not the best solution when considering how a brand identity looks to everyone else, but I personally don’t care about that.

I don’t think it was wrong at all to want the iconic Apple logo to be the right way up when you opened your exceedingly expensive Apple laptop.

Mountain Lion by Apple

If you like your iPhone, iPad, or iTouch, you’re going to love Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion ($TBA). The sequel to last year’s Lion ups the iOS feel with excessive Twitter and iCloud integration. It doesn’t stop there.

Notes, previously in Mail, have become a separate app, iChat has been replaced with Messages allowing users to Facetime and send iMessages to another iMessage device, such as an iPhone, iPad, or iTouch. Game Center has also been added for you to compete in games with those users.

That’s not all. The system also shows a Notification Center, Share Sheets, and AirPlay Mirroring. Don’t ask. I already have your answer. Share Sheets allows you to easily share photos, videos, and links across your apps. As previously stated, Apple has expanded it’s relationship with Twitter to allow sharing, but it doesn’t end there.

I know, you have a lot of apps, right? Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, and so forth….But you don’t want to bother with more settings. Well, Apple has you covered. These apps require you to sign in to them through System Preferences, however Mountain Lion based apps will be able to offer options that make the most sense. For instance, Flickr sharing will be an option in PhotoBooth and iPhoto, but not in Notes.

The downfall is that the update doesn’t bring Siri to your mac, but everything else will be roaring onto your Mac this Summer. Sorry, I had to say it.

FBI: Steve Jobs

The FBI had an entire 191 page file about former Apple CEO Steve Jobs. According to VentureBeat, Jobs applied for a government position as part of George H.W. Bush’s administration in 1991.

As part of the consideration for this position, the FBI did a full check on Jobs, which this file has information about his drug use, relationships and parental issues. It also includes information about his work at Apple. At the time of the FBI probe, Jobs was working for NeXT after his split with Apple.
