Giant Lego Man Washed Up On Beach

So this 100 pound fiberglass statue was washed up on Siesta Key Beach in Florida earlier this week. A spokesperson for Legoland, which recently opened a new theme park in Orlando, said the company doesn’t take credit for the stunt and isn’t behind it: “I wish we could say we did, it was brilliant guerrilla PR stunt.”

Denise Kowal, founder of the Sarasota Chalk Festival, which starts Tuesday, denied knowing anything about the stunt, except that she found it funny: “It’s hysterical that people would think that. It’s totally cracking me up.”

The front of the shirt is emblazoned with a grammatically incorrect message: “NO REAL THAN YOU ARE.” The name “Ego Leonard” was written on the back of his shirt.

The Sarasota Visual Arts website claims that it was Leon Keer, who will participate in the Chalk Festival, who is behind the 8-foot-tall figure. The site notes that L.Keer is the registered owner of egoleonard.com, which links to a Legoman page in the Netherlands, where a similar figure appeared on a beach in 2007.
