The Amazing Spiderman

#AmazingSpiderman is top trending on Twitter, so how about some Spidey news? Andrew Garfield is replacing Tobey Maguire in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. His real-life girlfriend Emma Stone will co-star.

“The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”

The movie release date is set on July 3, 2012.

Last week, the Emma and Andrew promoted the movie in Japan where Emma was asked about their characters’ first on screen kiss. Emma commented: “You don’t want to know! You want to watch the movie and find out. Plus, it would be weird if we were like, ‘There’s something iconic coming up!’ You’ve got to decide if it’s iconic or not. But there is a nice first kiss and it’s different than the upside down one [with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst]. And we liked it.” The couple arrived at JFK International Airport Wednesday (Jan. 25) in New York City.

Disney: Sexist Dress Code

Disney made an announcement that next Friday, front line male employees at Disney parks and resorts will be allowed to grow a beard in the next change to the company’s conservative, clean-cut dress code since pantyhose became optional for female employees only in 2010.

“We’re careful to maintain our heritage and the integrity of our brand” they say. The brand includes the “Disney Look,” described as fresh, clean, neat, and approachable. The dress code covers everything from hair and style to jewelry and fingernail length.

However, beards are only allowed on men and must be worn short and neat. Facial hair has been banned at the Disney company since the 1950s opening of Disneyland in California, but was relaxed in 2000 when the company allowed moustaches with strict rules on bushiness, width, and length, they say.

Disney is also instituting “casual Fridays” when behind-the-scenes workers may wear neat jeans and polo shirts while female workers may wear sandals.

Modern Family’s executive producer Steven Levitan spoke with Ad Age about product placement in the hit show: “we get offers constantly. We do very few. We try to be extremely selective.” He describes “very few” as about 10%. It seems as if they only accept ones which are willing to pay the big bucks: Target, Audi, and Toyota. No money was actually exchanged for Apple’s iPad placement.

However, when the show does accept placements, they flood an entire episode with the product. Rob Donnell, president-founder of Brand Arc, a brand consultant that helped place Toyota vehicles in the show says “you’ve got producers that are willing to do it and know how to make it part of a script. It’s not just one scene, it’s actually played out throughout the entire episode.”

A new study shows that gay parents are more likely to be better at raising children than heterosexual parents… because they actual want to be parents. However, if you use logic, you will realize that these people are comparing two completely separate groups of people (gays who chose to have children and all straight parents) to strengthen their belief.

“‘Gay parents tend to be more motivated, more committed than heterosexual parents on average’ because they chose to have the child.” Yeah, because they chose to have the child. Try giving a child to a gay couple who doesn’t want one and see how your gay couples are better parents argument holds up.
